Ithaca Youth Bureau I Have A Dream - "The Ithaca Youth Bureau has partnered with the Ithaca City School Distrirct (ICSD) since it was founded 60 years ago to achieve our mutual goal of helping youth thrive. In addition to a host of recreational opportunities, the Ithaca Youth Bureau Youth Development Division provides intensive advocacy, mentoring and support for one hundred ICSD 6th-12th grade students who are from groups that are underrepresented in the most challenging classes in school. This support includes: providing tutors and homework clubs; working with students to develop individual plans for success; attending school support meetings to identify challenges, barriers, successes and supports necessary; encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities; providing transportation and attending school meetings with parent/caregivers; helping students find adult and peer allies at school; helping students initiate contact with teachers to solve problems; inviting school staff to family dinners at the Youth Bureau so they may get to know students and their families in an informal setting."
